People don't take bags to Aldi because they don't want anyone to know that they shop there. They take bags to Aldi because Aldi charges you 5 or 10 cents per bag if you use theirs.

I shop at Aldi, but I live in Germany. Aldi's image over here has changed quite considerably over the last few years and even fairly well-off people shop there. This is because the quality of the goods sold has increased tremendously and nowadays it is fairly easy to recognise the well-known preoducer who is supplying under Aldi`s own trade marks.

In addition, a number of articles sold recently by Aldi have been chosen as the best in their individual areas, such as laptops, cameras, etc. Also, it is no longer seen as infra dig to own and wear Aldi clothing; some of their articles, such as winter jackets, socks, shirts, etc, are of very high quality.

However, you are right. If only they would change those stupid plastic bags!!

I have a friend who does this when she goes to Netto.
I think it's a bit OTT....What does it matter?
BTW....I shop at Asda or Morrisons....Still the poor people's shops...lol
And I carry their bags without a thought for my image.

I know a lot that shop there and would die before saying and my daughter was horrified I got stuff from there a few years ago as their tinned fruit is cheap and nice.

LOL...yeah i know someone who does that and i wonder why because the food in them shops is ok...i shopped in Lidl the other day...and i have shopped in Aldi lots of times...i don't know why people feel so ashamed about shopping in them stores...it's much cheaper and the food is just as good as anywhere else....

Ha ha ha thats funny, no i've never known anyone to do that Kimmy, but i can understand why some people may do that. I wouldn't do it myself, i couldn't give a damn!

I wonder, at what point does they do the transition from Aldi bag to M&S bag?! Do they act all coy and wait till no one comes, or maybe go to the toilet and do it? Wouldn't the other shoppers wonder why someone has just walked out of Aldi with Marks bags!?

Edit: Just read the other answers, silly me. I guess they charge for bags there, never been myself! Didn't know so many shop there! There isn't one near me really so i'm not going to go out my way.

Yeah me kimmy........don't do my full weekly shop there every week but go once a month to both (at opposite ends of the High Street) to stock up on some certain bits.......and I take my own bags...not because I'm to embarrassed for anyone to see I go there but because you have to pay for their Carrier Bags !!
