UK: Do you think overall inflation would be slightly lower i

I'm fed up about reading how the Scots and the Welsh are giving away stuff free or at reduced cost and it's us English who are subsidising it. What do you think about all of this?
I'm thinking of the statement made today by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, not to back date a pay increase for police because "<snip> it was one that I took only after a lot of thought, after considering the full facts of the case, the need to keep mortgages and the cost of living under control - and that includes your mortgages and your families' cost of living as well. <snip>"

But however it seems that while the decision has been made not to backdate a pay rise for police in England, Wales and Northern Ireland - officers in Scotland have received the backdated rise!

So the Scots are obviously either far more important than the rest of us or far more selfish than the rest of us. Nice to know isn't it hey?

Yet another daft question, I hope you are being funny, but just in case... Well to be honest we are all fed up with the rantings of the english about how we don't pay our way..

try showing us the official govt figures that show that we sponge off england, bet you get a fright...

Other than that let us become independent and we shall see who prospers and who doesn't....

No, because - assuming that English independence is your proposed solution - the burden on English taxpayers to pay for all the civil servants and government departments based in London and the South East would increase. This would make taxes rise in England and keep inflation at its current rate.

You really have it in for the Scots dont you?. A few days ago it was that all Rangers fans were scum. I aked you if you wanted to go and tell my 6 year old grand daughter what you thought of her.
Now it's have a go at us because our Prescriptions have come down and police are getting a pay rise. In two years time prescriptions will be free. Have you actually got off your throne and thought that we have our OWN PARLAIMENT, and it is nothing to do with you. Show me where it says that you subsidise us. I see a spark of nose out of joint here. If you look anything like your avatar, then you most definately look as if you think you are superior than others.
You do not subsidise us. If anything it is we who subsidise you with our oil.
When will some and note that i say "some" English people stop thinking that Scotland cannot survive without you. Ireland has managed it and so will the Scots and the Welsh.
And you wonder why your country is so unpopular with the likes of you in it.
I have never used the race card when it comes to Scotland and England bickering and us getting classed as second class citizens, but you are a prime candidate for racism against Scotland.
Roll on independence.
And don't bother thinking I am anti English as half my relatives live in Lancashire, and i have a lot of English friends who live up here in the north of Scotland.
