I went grocery shopping last night and the cashier made a mistake and I ended up paying over £17 less than I should have. Would Tesco take it out of his wages when they cash up at the end of the day? Happy that I got money of but feeling a little guilty if it has to come out of his wages.

no, they could work out who it was, but wouldn't take money from their wages since it was a mistake - they'll just be told off if anything!x

It probably happens, but I would think it's illegal. After all, if they've worked the hours it's their money by rights. I doubt Tesco would do it.

They are allowed a few small mistakes here and there but yes she could be fired for being 17 under. We fired for 5 under after being 5 under for 3 or 4 days.

The till worker will probably be accused of stealing the money by his manager, will be expected to pay tesco the money back, and then be fired and turned over to the police.

I work in Tesco at the checkout. If the till is under then you get notified and have to sign for it. Mistakes happen! It won't get took off any wages. Try not to worry about it so much, ok?

yes you do have to pay if your till is short, but they don't give it back to you if you are over,i think its only little shops that do this.

yes most of the places it happens, if a staffer committs a mistake, he has to pay it from his monthly/weekly earnings. this practise generally makes them more aware of the day to day operations and dealings
