I must admit that i have watched people doing this but would not dare tell an assistant for many reasons. I wonder how they get away with it because to me they look so obvious. Perhaps i may be a store detective..
Sorry shop them means tell on them .. expose their folly.. get them into trouble....
May i just say i have a very good reason for keeping stum if i witness anything . nothing personal to me , just something that happened to someone i know... I know you can`t generalise but .............
When i say at work i mean just in the act of doing it not literally at your place of work. I apologise i do not make myself clear
Having said all of the above... When my husband and i owned a shop, i was upstairs looking at cctv and saw someone put bars of chocolate up his sleeve while waiting near the till. i ran down and confronted him., I had much support because we were a local store to the community.

I don't have the guts to stop them haha I have called the security at the last place I worked when I saw kids I hated shoplifting haha but the security was on lunch......so yeahhh they got away

i dont think i wld tell the assistant.... just in case they overheard me or something.. they could be dangerous,... to me it looks obvious as well... the assistants are busy in there own work and dats y they may not notice....

I would probably ignore it !!!
It's not my problem or my job to have to deal with it ...... that's what the cameras and security staff are for.

Firstly, we are not allowed to approach them, we basically have to keep an eye on them until they actually try to leave the store, hopefully in that time, you have managed to get a message to someone else to call a manager or security, and they are the ones who have to power to ask them to see in their bags.

I'd tell a member of staff, I certainly wouldn't confront the thieves.

I must admit I've always fancied being a store detective...but I always see myself dressed up as Inspector Clouseau for some reason...very discrete!

We don't have shoplifters at my work, but if I caught someone stealing something I would just fire them.
