My god, so no-one has got any morals, you were too late, breads gone, sh#t happens, it might not technically be theft but morally it's gotta be.

I used to sometimes get a few feminine hygiene products and slip them into male shoppers' trolleys while they weren't watching. That makes for a fun time at the checkout counter!

Seriously though, if I saw a person with ten loaves of the kind of bread I was looking for and there were none on the shelf, I would ASK them politely if they could spare one.

I had to laugh at your first answerer: "No, nap it and run!" That response cracked me up!

I've actually had to deal with exactly the same problem before, ironically with bread, too. My first thought was the same as above: to just nick it and hope she didn't see! However, I figured that might cause a situation, so I simply tapped her on the shoulder and asked. I fibbed, giving the excuse that I was newly married and that my inlaws were visiting this weekend for the first time. I was friendly and pleaded a little, and managed to get a loaf from her (I let her chose which).

I don't know that fibbing in that situation was entirely wrong, but be ready to present a reason other than, "Because you're a greedy wench, that's why!"

If someone puts bread into their trolley it means that it is THEIR unpaid for shopping. Have you never bought anything on credit. We put our bread etc in trolley because that is what the shop provides the trolleys for. If we don't carry our own bread to the shop till then the cashier would have to do that for us and then our shopping would cost us more because of the increase in staff wages. I think you are very selfish. You know how long a loaf of bread will last you so why not stock up a day early. I shop for 2 but i always buy bread in 6 s and put it in the freezer so that I don't run out and have to pinch someone Else's shopping. When my shop runs out of bread and I need bread in a hurry then it is my fault for letting my stocks run out so If I cant get it at one shop there is always another shop somewhere. Or i even phone up a Friend to see if she can bale me out.(have you no Friends) But I certainly would not help myself to what legally belongs to someone else. What kind of a person are you if you cant politely ask if she will let you have a loaf. Most people are kind and would say yes. I am glad not everyone is as selfish and thoughtless as you are
That customer could have any number of reasons for buying 10 loafs. Like me she may live in a village or she may have a large family or visitors coming to stay.

Lol!

It's definitely not ok to take it from her trolley! It would be funny if you did though!

You could try to bargain with her...

But to be honest, I'd just go a day without bread and then pop in to my local little supermarket and buy some the next day!

Smile

xx Emmie
