you can always check out your local freecycle group. they are a forum group, designed to keep the landfills clearer of useable stuff. everything is free. www.freecycle.org

Free stuff is an attractive offer but take note that as often is the case, "nothing in life is free" Many of these freebies are designed as a marketing ploy. They have your name, address and age of the child (bare miniumum details) and this is interesting information for other companies giving them a specific target market
In other words, don't be surprised if you are subsequently bombarded by promotional materials/spam.
If you want to carry on anyway, then look to see (when signing up) if you can opt out of receiving materials, and decline any requests to pass on your info to 3rd parties
