my bf suggested he took me to london for the day on a shopping trip for my birthday. this is lovely and all but im not sure how much to buy..ive never had anyoen do this for me before. should i ask him if he has a spending limit in mind or would that put him on the spot? he spent around 250 for xmas so should i expect that to be the amount for my birthday? hes also taking me to alton towers the day before so i have to take that into concideration. all advice welcomed.

Oh you lucky girl, he sounds wonderful...and very in love with you.
Personally would be straight with him and ask, for the sake of a moments awkward silence it might avoid more embarrassment later
Have a fab day Honey

Ask him in bed where he's not going to feel put on the spot, bring up the subject of your shopping trip, say you're really looking forward to it, and have something in mind, then ask how wild you're allowed to go. Try not to address the issue of an exact figure directly as it can be a bit uncomfortable.
As a ballpark figure I'd say a similar amount to your Xmas present, maybe a little less as he's taking you out the day before as well. I'm sure you'll be able to tell when he has had enough as well, so make sure you let him go in HMV and Game, it keeps them sweet.

Just ask him. The only way to success to any relationship is communication. If you guess and miss-judge you could be in more hot water than you wanted to be.
Just remember, you don't have to spend up to your limit just for the sake of it. Or if he doesn't set a limit, just keep asking, 'could I have this?' or 'am I allowed this?' make it fun and little tongue in cheek. This way he'll realise you are not only with him for the size of his wallet.
Have a lovely day.

Wooow, you sound shallow.
Ask him, it's only fair on him and you.
