Google will install unless you uncheck the boxes at installation. Use custom installation.

Yup, Steph j's answer is correct. Even so you should be able to go to the control panel and add/remove programs and uninstall the google stuff.

You can get it for free, at Adobe's own website - with, or without google's software pack (by custom selection) :

Hello,

(ANS) Just a further comment here on this topic,

NOTE:- DON'T confuse the free-ware Adobe reader or also called Acrobat Reader ( Acrobat version 7 or version Cool which is for viewing PDF files or PDF documents, with other paid for or licensed programs that Adobe publish (create). Adobe also make a program called Adobe Acrobat and this ISN'T the same as the free reader software. I believe Acrobat is the pro or paid for program that allows you to make (create new) PDF files.

**YES!! the names used by Adobe can be rather confusing I agree, and its easy to see why users get mixed up.

**When downloading & installing the free acrobat reader there should be a tick box (check box) and if you don't want the google toolbar (YAK!!) there should be a chance to un-check the box so you don't download & install it, its a customer download & custom install as it were.

Hope that helps?

Kind Regards Ivan
(many years in computing).

I read Ivan's answer with interest. If all you want is a PDF reader, you really don't need the huge program that comes with Adobe Reader. It's cumbersome and very slow. Several years ago I found a small, fast and efficient reader called Foxit. It's free and easy to use. Try it before you download the whole Adobe thing.
