The aquarium is nice. also the Faneuil Hall mall although not the biggest is by far the coolest, with the best of the 'Cheers' branches contained within. definitely has the best xmas atmos. If its not too cold to walk from there its a short walk to Paul Revere's house and the Italian quarter.
If your kids are old enough to appreciate some good old American history there are a couple of cemetaries close to the edges of Boston Common that contain many famous dead dudes and a lot of the people that signed the declaration of independence.
If they are a wee bit too young for that there is always the public gardens with its ice skating rink and the famous duck sculptures. also the Loews cinema on the edge of the common is one of the biggest anywhere with very comfy seats !
hope this helps..

Ice Skating on Frog Pond is fun. Fanueil Hall and Quincy Market is always a blast, there are often horse drawn carriages and a ride around government center to see the Christmas Lights is also a good time for the kids.
The best shopping in Boston used to be Downtown Crossing, now probably the Galleria in Cambridge or the Mall at Newbury Street is the best, both are really expensive unless you go outside the city to outlets.

The skywalk observatory with its great views, awesome scenic film, and immigration exhibit are a great choice for the kids and you. Down below are both the shops at the pru along with the shops of copley place. Nearby is another great place for the kids--the Mapparium at the Mary Baker Eddy Library--a 3 story stained glass globe that you walk through. A one of a kind attraction!

What ages are the children? You can go to the Childrens Museum, and the Museum of Science. Also, around Fanueil Hall is ncie and fun for Christmas (big tree, decorations, etc) and there is a Build- A- Bear Workshop there. Shopping you can go to DownTown Crossing, or the Prudential Center, both are good. Depends what you are looking for. Also for the kids, you may be able to skate at Frog Pond, not sure if it will be open then/when you go because of the weather of course, as it is outside, but it's fun nontheless. Also, the Nutcracker is at the Opera House if you can get tickets, nothing will put you more in the Holiday spirit! Enjoy your trip!
