My guy friend is so sweet, ...do you think he's into me or putting me off? And I like this guy, and he tells ,e that he thinks I am really beautiful (many times) and I am much older than him like mid 40s, him mid 20s? He tells me that I look 30 (it is true lots of my friends say the same thing). Is he into me? Could he fall in love with you? He says we can be really good friends for life & he mentions that we are at diff. stages in our lives Is this normal? Like he keeps contacting you. Is it a bit strange? He also tells you that all girls leave him as they are trying to ground him and he feels free.

He's just trying to get his leg over, if that's OK with you go for it. By the things he's saying he's gently telling you that he's not looking for a relationship.

Okay he say he feels free and girls are trying to ground him. Do you need him to say point blank he doesn't want a relationship. Because that is what he has said.
He also tells you that you two are at different stages in life, again, do you need the sign to fall on your head?
He is your friend, that is it. He is trying to tell you nicely that is it. No more. Your 40, you should have enough common sense by now to realize that.
