There's a fast-scrolling disclaimer at the bottom of the screen saying the start price does not imply the actual value of the item, but it's in VERY small print.

I know people who sit in front of their TV and watch those channels for hours waiting for a bargin and they're happy enough with what they get but me, I'm cynical and think it's a rip off!

I don't think they have a calculator that figures out the exact "stupidity factor" but I do think the when the $$$ roll in they know they've got these poor people on the hook.
